I've been bingeing them on Amazon Prime lately and it's really made me miss the show.
Fun fact: Bryan Cranston starred in the Season 6 episode !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! as Patrick Crump, a man who forces Agent Mulder (David Duchovny) to drive him west in order to relieve pressure inside his skull caused by government radio waves.
The episode was written by none other than Vince Gilligan. Gilligan was so impressed by Cranston's performance that he would later recommended him to be cast as Walter White in Breaking Bad.
Who can identify the car that Crump forces Mulder to drive him in?
Got a favorite episode? Let me know in the comments.

I'm about to start watching it as my next show. Just finished Firefly and it made me sad they only made one season and a movie, it was excellent.

I remember that one, it was a good one. Some of them were pretty damn silly, but others were good. I like the one about the retarded aerospace janitor that was killing off scientists if for nothing else than it answered the science question of what a shattered face looks like. Thanks X-Files!

Although, to be honest, I only really love the first four seasons.

I loved the TV show, but Serenity (the movie) pissed me off.

I enjoyed it but it had it's issues. The main problem is they obviously had a lot of ideas for future seasons of the show but ended up having to cram them all into a 2 hour movie. It really felt like watching 2 seasons of the show on fast forward to me.

I loved the show up until about season 6. I binge watch it until around 6 with the idea that I'll make it all the way through, but the transition from Canada (eh) to LA is just weird.

For me the weak link of the show was River. Never really liked her story arcs, and Summer Glau quite simply isn't a good actress (and laughable at attempting hand to hand combat)...so to see her character become the focus of the movie drove me nuts. That's just one of the problems I had with the movie.

I found her back story pretty interesting because of the mystery of it. Had it been developed slowly like it initially was planned (we were just starting to see the extent of her abilities and some of the changes made to her brain in the show) it would've been a lot better I think. Trying to get that into a 2 hour movie changes things though. Turning a show into a movie is always going to be hard, I feel they did well considering.

X-Files got kind of weird towards the end and I didn't like it so much. However I don't understand why some shows, of that kind, don't do the Dr. Who formula.
What I mean is you have new story arcs and stand alone episodes in Dr. Who. Instead of canceling the series when they are tired of it they change all the actors and keep the show running and it's still good.
Like take Star Trek for example. I didn't want Enterprise or Voyager. Why not just retire picard, promote Riker to captain, have new crew members, and continue the series like that for a few seasons. Then when that's done continue that again, maybe a new ship for example. Instead they try new formulas that are kind of shitty. That was still a strong show in its last season. They could even have done a new plot involving deep space exploration and made a pseudo-voyager type show except without the dumb "we're stranded but there is no repercussions" plot Voyager had.
By shitty I mean like the Voyager "oh we have to go home, we have infinite crew members that die every episode, and we only talk about hardships and see none." Then BSG gets it right by actually showing what it's like to be a refugee like that. Then you have Enterprise that was supposed to be more like TNG and TOS except it was trying dumb overall plots about time travel because you have the guy from Quantum Leap. Star Trek time travel episodes are tolerable, at best, nobody wants an entire series based on it.
IDK why American shows don't do this. I mean I guess we have these series where we have new actors every season now like True Detective and Fargo but that's not what I mean.

I've started rewarding Firefly on flights. I forgot how good the pilot was. The very beginning was a bit cheesy, but once they were on the ship it all feels right.

Yeah it has some cheesy moments and the effects haven't held up all that well, but the characters and their relationships are excellent. Also Kaylee is cute as hell.

I have to admit, I liked the "Monster of the Week" episodes a little better. I guess I just wasn't as into the whole government conspiracy storyline. Don't get me wrong though; even my least favorite X-Files are better than most of the crap that's on now.

You need to check out Shaenon Garrity's comic "Monster of the Week." She's doing cartoon summaries of each episode, usually with a healthy dose of snark.

Filming moved from Canada to Los Angeles because David Duchovny didn't like all the back and forth traveling for filming.
